Jack Jay Wind

Principal

Jack Jay Wind is a principal in the law firm of Margulies Wind, P.A. He was admitted to practice in New Jersey in 1977 and is admitted before the Third Circuit Court of Appeals. He maintains a broad practice, including appellate, chancery and civil litigation as well as in real estate, both commercial and residential. He has appeared numerous times before the Third Circuit Court of Appeals and the Superior Court of New Jersey, Appellate Division, and has argued before the Supreme Court of New Jersey, participating in numerous published cases and many more unpublished.

Mr. Wind is a member of the Hudson County Bar Association and a founding member of the Hudson-Bergen Inn of Transactional Counsel. He has been active in pro bono matters, being awarded the Equal Justice Medal by Legal Services of New Jersey in November 1999 for volunteering and participating in complex legal matters on behalf of underprivileged members of the community. Thereafter, he continued such services becoming President of the Board of Trustees for Hudson County Legal Services in 2002 and upon its expansion to encompass Bergen and Passaic Counties as Northeast New Jersey Legal Services in 2003, continued as President, a position he still holds. In 2008 he received the Jeffrey C. Green Outstanding Board Service Award from Legal Services of New Jersey.

Mr. Wind has also served the county and state legal community as Secretary of the Supreme Court of New Jersey District VI, Hudson County, Ethics Committee, serving in that capacity since 1989. In 1999 he was cited by the Hudson County Bar Association for his then ten year service. He continues to serve in that capacity, being one of the longest tenured secretaries in the state. He has also served as an adjunct faculty member at Upsala College and has participated as a lecturer and panel member in the area of ethics and professionalism for Skills and Methods, The Hudson Inn of Court, as well as for the Hudson County Bar Association CLE program.

He was born in Jersey City and raised in Bergen County. After graduating from Cornell University in 1974, he continued his education in Boston, Massachusetts, receiving his JD degree cum laude from Suffolk University Law School in 1977. Coming back to New Jersey, he has resided in Montclair, New Jersey and for the last fifteen years in Madison, New Jersey. Mr. Wind is active in Cornell Alumni matters, currently serving as Class Correspondent for the Cornell Class of 1974.
